Statistical sampling with interview challenges.

Cygnus supported a National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) study that followed a national sampling of participants. The data was analyzed to examine how various individual and societal circumstances affect, and are affected by, cognitive functioning, autonomous self-directed orientations and values, coping behavior, and feelings about oneself and one’s circumstances. Conclusions drawn from this study were invaluable in developing fulfilling and satisfying environments and services for older persons.

Cygnus expertise, services and capabilities needed to support this project included:

  • Survey research, including survey instrument development, developing statistically significant sampling, and conducting interviews;
  • Evaluation and analysis; and
  • Special needs issues and expertise on aging.
